13-Mar-13: Dame Carol Black awards Health @ Work certificate.
MMV Sense (Activity4Charity) and their partner CTC Healthcare who shared a stand at the recent Health and Wellbeing @ Work conference at the NEC were delighted to be visited by Dame Carol Black, Chair of the governments Health@Work Partnership Forum (part of the public health responsibility deals) and government expert health advisor. Here she is presenting the national award certificate for best showcase of a health at work programme that included both CTC health screening and risk assessments as well as the physical activity health challenge Activity4Charity.

CEO Luke Murrell says we are increasingly seeing companies wanting to link their corporate sponsorship initiatives with the health and wellbeing of their staff.

MMVSENSE with their Corporate Health Challenge Activity4Charity won the People's choice award at the recent IBM SmartCamp UK finals. It was a close run competition with the four other finalists, with Activity4Charity receiving 1029 votes. Big thanks to our supporters!
27-Sep-12: Activity4Charity through to the final of IBM Smart Camp London 2012 competition
The Activity4Charity team have reached the national final in a competition for start-up companies run by IBM. IBM SmartCamp KickStart London is an annual ‘competition’-style emerging technology business showcase, in which new companies are selected that align with IBM's Smarter Planet strategy. Following a short-list round, in which the Activity4Charity team pitched their concept to a panel of IBM industry experts, they were successful in making it through to the final national stage, to be held on 5th October at the IBM Forum in London. As one of only 5 finalists, the team will now take part in mentoring sessions from industry and investment experts, as well as compete in the final pitching event.
12 August 2012: Successful completion to the Summer challenge
Finishing inline with the end of the Olympics, the 500 participants walked a total of 200 million steps, equivalent to walking over 3 times round the world, and generated over £8000 for the partner charities. "...amazing in terms of encouraging staff engagement around the office."
July 2012: Thirty organisations sign up to the summer challenge.
2nd July saw the start of the summer 6 week challenge with participation more than doubling since the New year event with over 30 participating organisations. Sodexo widened their involvement to additional european offices while Surrey Chambers of Commerce together with twelve of their member companies elected to fundraise for Surrey Clubs for Young People.
May 2012: Sodexo, a world leader in Quality of Life Solutions employing 48,000 people in the UK complete the Activity4Charity challenge.
Sodexo were extremely pleased with the uptake and enthusiasm of people participating in the challenge. The response was great, with almost 100 people in the London head office signing up for the New Year’s challenge, both office based and a team from the kitchen, plus 2 teams in Dublin. Tony Cooke, Government Relations Director said: “We got a great response to the challenge. A number of other teams wanted to join in and we had to increase the numbers. It created a competitive buzz in the office, a great talking point with colleagues and customers and the increase in activity between the start and end of the challenge was impressive. We are now working towards linking the programme into our STOP Hunger foundation to further engage our staff and motivate them towards a more active lifestyle.”
April 2012: Herrington & Carmichael a Law firm in the South East of England take up the challenge.
Four members of Herrington & Carmichael staff took on the January Activity4Charity challenge to complete 10,000 steps each per day, the equivalent to 200 miles. All participated in the challenge with great enthusiasm and were often seen walking around the offices and volunteering rather eagerly to run all the office errands!
The result was that Herrington & Carmichael came 7th out of the 37 regional teams entered, with Nick and Jill being 2 of the 23 people who managed to complete the 10,000 steps every day. Jill commented “ The challenge bought out my slightly competitive side where I found myself walking around the block at 10.30pm to get my steps for the day in, but without doubt the challenge made me much more active and as a result gave me more energy, I would recommend anyone to take this challenge up next time around.”
The team raised money for their chosen charity CPsport, Cerebral Palsy Sport promotes and seeks to increase sport and physical recreational opportunities for people with a disability and especially those who have cerebral palsy.
March 2012 - Successful first challenge
The first commercial Activity4Charity challenge finished on 11th March, and the participants walked a total of 73 million steps, equivalent to walking 1.3 times round the world, and generating over £8000 for the partner charities. In a survey of participants at the end of the challenge, 92% of people said that the scheme had benefited their personal health and wellbeing and 55% said they had more energy. One participant said "Really fantastic challenge, the length of it was important to get past the "fad" stage and get into a routine. I feel fitter and have lost some weight." Another said: "It's had a positive impact on my job satisfaction, because I chatted to people I hadn't spoken to before - it increased the camaraderie and banter at work."
January 2012 - New Year's challenge.
A 6 week Activity4Charity challenge started on 30th January 2012 with the theme "Getting fit for the New Year". 14 charities signed up to participate in fundraising and several companies signed up employees to take the challenge.
July 2011 - Action on Hearing Loss wins the AoF/Activity4Charity prize drawer.
We are pleased to announce that the winners of the IOF/Activity4Charity National Convention step challenge is “Action on Hearing loss”. CEO , Luke Murrell and Sales Director Seema Bennett were delighted to present a certificate and cheque for £352 to CEO Jackie Ballard and Doose Ugo , the participant from Action on Hearing Loss in the challenge. The accumulated fund of £352 had been accrued by 300 delegates walking 1.7M steps during the IOF Convention and Activity4Charity had pledges £1 for every 5000 steps walked. A great result from a novel fund raising challenge.
June 2011 - LSBU Sports Academy research study.
The Sport and Exercise Research Centre at London South Bank University are carrying out a research study into daily physical activity, which will test the various motivational features in the Activity4Charity scheme.
April 2011 - Activity4Charity.
MMVSENSE name their behavioural change Wellbeing scheme Activity4Charity. This scheme has one overriding design objective; to be as inclusive as possible and to appeal to a wide audience, in particular those who struggle to do the recommended 30 minutes of daily physical activity, and those who have a strong sense of community.
1st December 2010 - MMVSENSE awarded a Health at Work grant.
Today MMVSENSE Ltd has won a prestigious grant from SEHTA, the South East Health Technologies Alliances. The grant will enable them to further develop a community based software platform for use with their novel wellbeing pedometer programme. CEO Luke Murrell said: "We are delighted to receive this grant which will form the basis for a range of propositions we are developing targeted at driving behavioural changes which increase physical activity and so benefit the mental and physical wellbeing of individuals."
1st November 2010 - Hiring of Sales Director.
Seema Bennett joins MMVSENSE's management team as Sales Director. Seema brings with her many years experience of key account management particularly within large pharmaceutical companies, her responsibilities including channel development within the corporate sector.
1st June 2010 - Advisory Board member.
Simon Johnson joins MMVSENSE on their Advisory Board. An Accredited Coach for start-ups he will bring his extensive experience to bear both in growing technology start ups and in international business development.
8th March 2010 - Award of grant.
MMVSENSE secure a South East Health Technologies Alliance (SEHTA) grant to support laboratory research in the Sports Science Laboratory at Brunel University. The project being conducted by José González-Alonso, Professor of Sport and Exercise Physiology.
