Introduction

The adoption of smart phones with internet connectivity, forecast to be 43% of all mobile devices sold by 2013, establishes the enabling platform for MMVSENSE's future sensor devices and services. In parallel, micro and nanotechnology are creating new approaches to sensing that are compact, power efficient and cost effective.

The sensors will be connected via a wireless interface to Smart Phones, and enable a range of new end-to-end solutions using passive data collection, analysis and real-time data sharing. Our development focus is on new sensor technologies and applied physiology studies, enabling innovations both in physiology sensor hardware and in training programmes.

Mobile Solutions

Our solutions include application support for multiple mobile platforms; iPhone OS, Android, Symbian, RIM, Windows.

Sensor Technology

MMVSENSE mobile sensors will contain micro and nanotechnology, capable of monitoring both physiology and local environment.

Sensor technologies will be in the following categories;

  • MEMS (micro-electromechanical systems)
  • micro-electronic devices (amplification and processing of small electrical signals)
  • RF devices (RFID, proximity detectors)
  • electromechanical materials (piezoelectric, nanocomposites)
  • optical devices (photodetectors, LEDs)
  • chemical sensors (electrochemical cells, functionalised nanoparticles, CNTs)
  • biosensors (enzyme based, arrays, microfluidics)

To ensure we can offer our customers the latest technology, we are building strategic relationships with research institutes, as well as in-house expertise in the area of sensor packaging, signal processing and industrial design.
